Yung Miami is facing criticism on X, formerly Twitter, after she seemingly wished her ex-boyfriend Diddy a happy birthday.

In an X post on Wednesday (Nov. 4), Miami shared two cake and white heart emojis with no further context. However, it’s no secret that Miami was previously in a relationship with Diddy, who was sentenced to four years in prison followed by five years of supervised release last year. The disgraced Bad Boy Records founder turned 57 behind bars on Wednesday, marking his third birthday celebrated while incarcerated.

The post was quickly met with criticism from fans, who immediately drew the connection between the date and her past association with Diddy. Before Diddy was sentenced last year, Yung Miami wrote a character letter to New York judge Arun Subramanian to express her support. She wrote in the latter that she “cannot speak on or defend anything that may have happened” before she met Diddy, but stressed that she didn’t believe he was “a danger or a threat to the community.”

“For three of those years, I was in a public relationship with Sean, and during that time, I witnessed—and came to know—a different person than the one often portrayed,” Miami wrote in the letter. “Behind the scenes, he was loving, genuine, supportive, and always encouraging. He motivated me, believed in me, and helped me grow both personally and professionally.”

Just last month, she released her debut solo album Watch Dis!, and her ballad “Ride for You” immediately got fans talking. “That n***a said his name was ‘Love,’ and I fell in it,” she rapped on the track, referring to Diddy’s “Love” moniker.
