Yung Miami took it hard when she split up with her musical counterpart and longtime friend JT.
The Watch Dis rapper, formerly of City Girls alongside JT, looked back on the group’s disbandment on the Sunday (Oct. 25) episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Game. On her debut solo studio album, Yung Miami, real name Caresha Brownlee, reflects on her early friendship and their eventual falling out on the song “Dear JT.”
“In the last two years, I went through a lot,” Yung Miami said around the 14-minute mark of the video below. “I went through a breakup with a guy, a breakup with my girl group, JT, and then I got dropped from my label [Quality Control Music].”
“So, I went through three breakups in these last two years,” she continued. “A lot of times it wasn't easy. Like, sometimes I'm just like, ‘Damn, it's so much on one person.’ I'm going through all this shit in real time. Like, some shit going on in my relationship. The group done broke up. The label done dropped me.”
“I don’t know what the fuck. I’m dropped in the middle of the ocean, I’m like, ‘What the fuck you gonna do?’”
Yung Miami eventually went to the studio with “Dear JT,” saying that it “wasn’t easy losing a longtime friend.”
“You think that it don't bother me? You don't think that I think about the good times that we had? And I just wanted to address that on my first solo album because this is what I went through,” she explained.
City Girls released three solo albums during their seven-year run, including their final album, RAW, which was released in 2023. JT also embarked on a solo career, dropping her debut solo mixtape City Cinderella in 2024.
