Bianca Censori Opens Yeezy Season 01 Runway Show With Prayer: 'I Am the Light'

Bianca Censori’s voice provided the opening salvo to the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 01 runway show in Los Angeles on Thursday (Nov. 4).

The intro, preceded seconds earlier by a single piano note reminiscent of “Runaway,” served as a prayer, of sorts, calling for protection for Censori and her husband Ye.

“I ask the Holy Spirit to support, guide, and protect me and my husband throughout the day today,” Censori’s voice, which was seemingly pitch-shifted in parts of the intro, could be heard telling attendees. “May the Holy Spirit be in my mind and in my words and in my heart. I am the light. The light is within me. The light moves throughout me. The light surrounds me. The light protects me.”

The closing lines took on a mantra-like rhythm.

“I am the light,” Censori, a performance artist and architectural designer, added. “I know who I am in the truth. I know what I am in the truth. I know how I serve the truth. I am free, I am free, I am free. I am here, I am here, I am here. Amen.”

Following last year’s BIO POP (THE ORIGIN) project, Censori, fresh off helming a number of Ye’s Bully-era music videos, is set to deepen her performance art catalog with CONFESSIONAL (THE WITNESS) and BIANCA IS MY BABY DOLL (THE IDOL) soon. In fact, she has announced seven such projects in total, with BUBBLE (THE ASCENSION) seemingly set to close the series in 2032.
