The Rockaway Peninsula in New York is still struggling to recover after Hurricane Sandy. However MoMA PS1 and Volkswagen collaborated to create the new VW Dome 2 in order to attract more visitors to the region. The dome is meant to create community, providing a large space for lectures, cinemas, galleries, and other public events. Although the temporary structure lasts until May 18, already the dome has seen visits from Michael Stipe and Patty Smith.
