Former The Little Rascals star Bug Hall is receiving overwhelming support after launching a fundraiser to help his growing family prepare for the arrival of their sixth child.
The 41-year-old actor, best known for playing Alfalfa in the 1994 comedy, launched a GoFundMe campaign on Thursday (Nov. 5) titled "Helping the Hall-Barnetts Finish Before Baby Six," seeking financial assistance as his family settles into a new property in rural Arkansas.
Hall initially set a goal of $2,000, but donations quickly exceeded expectations. As of the latest reported figures, the campaign had raised $15,721 from 197 donations. In the fundraiser's description, Hall explained that his family had successfully relocated but still needed help covering several expenses before their newest addition arrives.
"I really need some help getting the last few things buttoned up," Hall wrote.
"We've made it onto the new land in record time, but I'm a few materials short of having things working right, and I've fallen a little behind on the few bills we have (phone, propane for the camper, and an unexpected electric hookup service fee)."
Hall also acknowledged that asking for financial assistance wasn't something he wanted to do after stepping away from Hollywood.
"It's now six years since I self-cancelled, and I have avoided doing one of these in all that time," he explained. "I always said this was my choice, and so I didn't want to offload the glorious burden of it unless there was no other choice. Well here we are."
The fundraiser comes months after Hall revealed that he had taken a "vow of poverty" while embracing a religious lifestyle away from the entertainment industry.
During a January interview with the Daily Mail, Hall explained that he donated the money he earned as a child actor to charity and gave away many of his possessions.
Rather than relying on a traditional career, Hall said he takes on temporary work whenever "a financial need" arises, finding odd jobs "for cash to fulfill that need."
Hall left Hollywood in 2020 and has since embraced an off-the-grid lifestyle rooted in his Catholic faith, describing himself as "a radical Catholic extremist."
He and his wife homeschool their five children and previously lived in Los Angeles and Texas before relocating to Arkansas.
Despite the family's financial challenges, Hall maintained a positive outlook, describing his family as "overjoyed" and "even enjoying roughing it."
With their sixth child expected in less than a month, Hall hopes to complete the remaining work on the property soon.
"My hope is to finalize everything here over the next two weeks so I can take some work until the baby arrives," he wrote.
Hall previously went viral after the birth of his last child, a son, whom he called his “heir.” When a commenter asked why he doesn’t consider his daughters to be heirs, he called them “dishwashers.”
