Two people have been killed and 14 others injured in a shooting at an off-campus Texas A&M University-Commerce party.
The shooting occurred on Saturday night in Greenville, Texas, about 15 miles from the university campus, Time reports. The shooter hasn’t yet been apprehended, according to Chief Deputy Buddy Oxford of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting began around 15 minutes after deputies arrived outside the venue, where they were answering reports of illegal parking. Deputies heard gunshots that happened at the back of the building, but couldn’t tell if the shots happened inside or outside. Officers found two people killed inside the building, while 14 others required treatment or hospitalization for their injuries. Officers were still looking for the shooter early Sunday morning and don’t yet have a description of the suspect.
Information on the severity of the injuries isn’t yet available, but according to the Associated Press, three victims were in critical condition.
The event was a homecoming party, though wasn’t school-sanctioned. The officers estimated that at least 750 people were at the party.
Texas A&M University-Commerce is the second-biggest university in the Texas A&M University System, which it joined in 1996. The school has around 6,000 undergraduate students and 4,000 graduate students.
