We look at the past 10 NBA champions to see if a strong start to the season is a must for a team that’s chasing a ring.
Matt BurkeGolden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team based in San Francisco, California, competing in the NBA’s Western Conference. Founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors, the franchise rose to prominence by revolutionizing the game with a high-volume three-point shooting offense led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, famously dubbed the "Splash Brothers." The Warriors have secured multiple NBA championships since moving to the Bay Area, including a record-setting 73-win regular season in 2015-16. Their defining feature is an offensive system that prioritizes spacing, ball movement, and pace, which has reshaped league-wide strategies. Fans return for the team’s blend of sharpshooting, unselfish play, and the leadership of Curry, whose deep shooting range has expanded the boundaries of NBA offense and inspired a generation of players to emphasize perimeter scoring.
