The mother of Geno Smith’s child has leaked what appear to be text messages showing she asked the NFL star not to let their son be around his ex-girlfriend, a woman named Kristen who recently accused him of abuse.
As reported by TMZ, a woman who identified herself as Kennedy, the mother of the Jets quarterback’s son, shared screenshots on social media of what look like text exchanges with Smith, and accused Kristen of being “the problem.”
“If it’s that serious and you want something done, HIRE A LAWYER,” she wrote alongside a message that seemed to show communications with Smith referring to an “incident” with Kristen. “Don’t come on the internet trying to spin something. YOU are the problem. Get a grip. You don’t speak for me.”
She also shared other texts that appear to be with Smith, in which they spoke about their son’s progress amicably.
“Eugene isn’t the problem,” she wrote alongside the screenshot. “We get along fine without this lady. She creates drama just as she’s doing now. My son is FINE with his father.”
In another message, she asked Geno to “promise” that he wouldn’t let their child around Kristen, whom she accused of being “obsessed” with her and her child.
On Sunday (June 21), Kristen shared a series of posts on her Instagram Stories accusing Geno of neglecting his son and abusing her.
"Today is the DAY! Geno Smith beat my ass cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid," she wrote in a caption over a video appearing to show her arguing with him. “[He] can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch sex online and play Call of Duty.”
Police in Smith’s hometown of Davie, Florida told Complex, “Police responded to the Smith residence yesterday [Sunday, June 21]; however, no arrest was made.” No charges were filed following the police visit to his residence.
TMZ also reported that Kristen accused Geno of becoming physically violent in her call to police.
“My ex-boyfriend just beat me up," she tearfully said in the call with dispatchers. “There's video cameras all throughout the house, all outside in the front where he attacked me. … He probably deleted all the footage off the camera." Police are actively investigating her claims.
