A woman has accused New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith of being physically abusive and neglecting his son with additional needs.
As reported by For the Win via USA Today, a woman named Kristen posted a video on Instagram (@everythingkrisxo) showing the NFL star on the phone as she confronted him over his alleged behavior. "Today is the DAY! Geno Smith beat my ass cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid," she wrote in a caption over the video. “[He] can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch sex online and play Call of Duty.”
In the video, she appeared to accuse Smith of “attacking” her, breaking her laptop, and stealing from her.
“Throwing my purses out and stealing my money out my car with his high deranged ass,” she wrote in a follow-up post. "In the final video shared on her Instagram Stories, she showed police officers and captioned the clip, “Charges pressed.” She added, “Been supportive of this DEMON and his narcissistic personality disorder ALL MY DAMN LIFE!!!!!!”
Police in Smith’s hometown of Davie, Florida tell Complex, “Police responded to the Smith residence yesterday [Sunday, June 21]; however, no arrest was made.”
TMZ reports that authorities are investigating the allegations, but no formal charges have been filed.
The connection between Smith and the woman accusing him of abusive behavior is unclear, but he was previously reported to have gotten married to his college girlfriend, Hayley Eastham, in 2015. He also welcomed a son, Seven Santana Smith, in 2019, although it’s not clear if this is the child the woman is referring to or if he welcomed his son with Eastham.
Smith was traded to the Jets from the Las Vegas Raiders in March, reuniting with the franchise where he started his NFL career.
Smith has not publicly addressed the allegations made against him.
