Reports that Halle Berry’s Instagram was hacked have surfaced after her account posted a Story thought by some to be about her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez.
The former spouses are battling in court over the custody of their 13-year-old son Maceo after an alleged physical altercation between him and the Academy Award-winning actress last month.
Martinez, who was married to Berry from 2013 to 2016, claimed that Maceo has been a victim of repeated assaults by his mother over the last year and a half.
The Instagram Story, posted Monday (Oct. 26), read, "If kids disrespect their mom, the root cause often traces back to their relationship with the father."
After the post was deleted, sources close to the actress reportedly told TMZ that Berry was not behind the message and that her account appears to have been hacked.
Martinez is seeking a domestic violence restraining order and sole child custody, alleging Berry choked Maceo during a Sept. 26 argument that started over a virtual reality headset. Berry denies the claim and has described the incident as roughhousing while her fiancé, soul musician Van Hunt, was also present.
Martinez was granted a temporary restraining order and temporary primary custody on Oct. 1. Maceo testified for nearly four hours on Oct. 19, with witnesses describing the courtroom showdown between Berry and Martinez as “icy.”
The trial entered its second week Monday at LA Superior Court, where Berry's 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, testified virtually while Hunt returned for cross-examination. Aubry, who Berry shares with Canadian model Gabriel Aubrey, said she had never seen her mother be violent toward Maceo.
"I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way," Aubry said. “I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”
Berry is asking the court to deny the restraining order, lift custody restrictions, and reinstate the joint custody arrangement between her and Martinez. She is also asking for sole decision-making over Maceo's education and mental health care.
