Dylan Sprouse and his twin brother Cole Sprouse recalled having such a close bond with their Suite Life of Zack & Cody costar Phill Lewis that they considered each other family.
Lewis, 58, who portrayed the strict hotel manager Mr. Moseby, was a guest on the Tuesday (Nov. 3) episode of Dylan’s podcast Wildmen, where he recounted having a strong friendship with the show’s leads during the show’s three-season run in the mid-2000s. The show was followed by a spinoff, The Suite Life on Deck, which also ran for three seasons from 2008 to 2011.
"I don't think you can do a show for almost seven years like we did without having some element of that. You have to kind of be a family,” Dylan, 34, said around the 10-minute mark of the video below.
“The boys would come over and spend the night. They would hang out. We'd go out for breakfast. They had movie nights with our daughters,” Lewis recalled. “They'd hang out with [my daughters] Annie and Piper and my wife. We would cook and we would hang out.”
Lewis also shared his memory of the show’s cast doing press at The New York Times, and during a joyous reunion, a makeup artist noticed and asked the group when they had last seen each other.
“And I went, ‘Three days,’” he continued. “But that's how we were. … We were so happy to be together.
Sprouse played Zack Martin opposite his twin as Cody. Also starring on the show were actresses Kim Rhodes, Brenda Song and Ashley Tisdale.
Dylan gave insight to his actual family on a previous episode of Wildmen, claiming that his mother’s and father’s ancestors had intermarried generations before the former spouses met.
