Even though we’ve barely had enough time to process him leaving Ant-Man, Edgar Wright won’t be out of our lives for too long. Deadline is reporting that with his schedule now clear, Wright can now focus on Disney’s adaptation of the TV movie/series The Night Stalker.
Johnny Depp may already be onboard to star, and Wright himself has actually been attached to the project for quite a while. Here’s Deadline’s synopsis of the original series:
Despite Wright’s proclivity for R-rated elements in his movies, this film will align with Disney’s PG-13 only ethos. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World was PG-13, so we know Wright has it in him to keep proceedings at least somewhat appropriate.
With Depp busy filming the Whitey Bulger movie (and possibly another Pirates of the Caribbean sequel that nobody wants) and the script not quite done, we're still a ways away from seeing The Night Stalker hit the big screen. However, this is at least a step in the right direction.
