Actress Zazie Beetz, whom you may know as Vanessa from Donald Glover’s Atlanta, has landed another major role. She’ll play Neena Thurman—a.k.a. “Domino”—in the sequel to Deadpool.
Ryan Reynolds, the star of the science fiction/action film series, announced the news with a clever post on his Twitter account.
Clearly Reynolds is excited to work with Beetz, who is 26 and hails from Berlin, Germany.
The man who created Domino—the renowned comic book creator Rob Liefield—seems pumped as well.
Beetz has also appeared in Easy, Margot vs. Lily, Applesauce, and Finding Her. But Atlanta, which Complex ranked as the second-best TV series of 2016, has been her real breakthrough.
Deadpool 2 will be released in 2018. Deadpool was one of the most favorably reviewed commercial releases of 2016. It also raked in money at the box office, ranking No. 9 in 2016 and making nearly $784 million worldwide.
