At one point this summer, it seemed like Drake hopping on Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” was inevitable.

But fast forward to October, and no such remix has materialized. The original version of the track, a full-fledged solo hit for the City Girls alum, peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100 and now has a home on the just-released Watch Dis! project.

Asked about the would-be remix during an interview with Nessa Diab on Hot 97 this week, Miami said that Drake failed to respond to her DM, though it doesn’t sound like she’s taking this personally.

“Drake left me on read,” she said, as seen below. “I don’t know. I’m like, Drake, what did I do? … I love Drake.”

Preferably, Miami explained, she would have instead received a flat-out no from the Iceman artist.

“Just tell me no,” she said. “I’m good with a no, but leaving me on read?”

Miami went on to express the enduring “love” she has for Drake as an artist, noting that she understands why he might be hesitant to dole out favors at this stage in his career.

“I just respect Drake,” she said. “You know, Drake is Drake. For real. I’ve always been a Drake fan, always gave him his flowers, personally love Drake, never rode the hate train. I personally love him, but I get it. When you go through things in the industry, that shit’ll make you look at everybody differently.”

Still, she’s hopeful about working with Drake again in the future.

“Drake, don’t forget about me,” she said, adding that she wishes “he would have answered the phone” or responded to her DM.

From there, Miami closed out the Drake-focused part of her and Nessa’s conversation by sending out happy birthday wishes ahead of his 40th birthday.

Watch Dis!, released Friday (October. 23), also features a track titled “Dear JT,” a vulnerable ode, of sorts, to her former City Girls partner. Listen below.
