Will Grammy voters see ASAP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb as a viable Best Rap Album and/or Album of the Year contender?

We’ll know soon enough, as today (Oct. 22) marks the end of first-round voting for the 69th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. Rocky himself made the case for his consideration in a recent interview with Antonio Johri for Complex, citing the vastness of the visual world he developed for the long-awaited Testing follow-up.

“We did the characters. We did it raw,” Rocky, who tapped into the familiar visual stylings of filmmaker Tim Burton for the rollout, explained earlier this month. “We could have claymation-looking characters on the cover. I was like, nah, man. I want the sketches. I want this shit to still be raw because that's what hip-hop represents. It's just still rawness.”

One artist we should apparently not expect to see when nominations are unveiled next month, despite his having released three eligible albums this year, is Drake.

That said, what comes next now that we’re inching closer to the 2027 edition of what’s long been billed as music’s biggest night?

We take a closer look below.
