Brooklyn-born talent Goya Gumbani just released his new EP, Bean Pie, and now he’s following up with the visuals one of the release’s key tracks, “Come Or Go”.
“Come Or Go”, produced by Blk Deco, is the jewel in that crown, with Gumbani at his charismatic best riding a kinetic, jazzy instrumental with nimble wordplay and a disarmingly charismatic flow.
For the video, the South East London-based rhymer flew out to Japan to connect with Osaka-based director BPM Holmes to explore the side streets and tucked-away spots the city has to offer.
Unlike his 2025 debut, Warlord Of The Weejuns, which was built on hazy, boom bap-inspired foundations, Bean Pie leans more into Gumbani’s jazz influences via production contributions from Joe Armon-Jones of Ezra Collective, Franky Bones and Blk Deco.
The EP, Gumbani explains takes more of collage approach than his debut full-length, finding the connective tissue between tracks from different points in his life. “These songs came from different moments,” Gumbani shares. “Some are fresh, some have been sitting around and changing shape with me. They each have their own flavour, their own little world. Somewhere along the way, I started thinking about them like the different beans that go into a bean pie, separate things, picked up at different times, but once you put them together, they become something else.”
