Chance the Rapper has put his mic down to become a film critic for a second, sharing what he thinks is the best movie of the year.
On Wednesday (October 21), the Chicago rapper gushed about the Bassam Tariq-directed action-drama Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, which stars Mahershala Ali, John Cho, Adia, Giancarlo Esposito, and more. Chance even put the film over other critically-acclaimed movies of 2026.
At the time of sharing his praise, Chance was halfway through watching Tariq's action-thriller, which is in theaters now.
"I never tweet at the movies but I’m about 40 minutes into Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother and it’s honestly the best movie to come out this year. Ima double down when it’s over," he wrote on X.
In a second post, he added: "This movie was better than Odyssey and I don’t see Dune beating it."
Despite the praise, Chance the Rapper's followers blasted him for being on his phone during the movie. "Boy if you don't get off the phone imma call your mother your mother your mother," writer and comedian Demi Adejuyigbe replied.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey grossed over $1 billion worldwide and is a top contender for 2027 Academy Awards nominations. Starring an ensemble cast, including leads Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Florence Pugh, the Denis Villeneuve-directed Dune: Part Three will release theatrically on December 18.
