During her recent show in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday (Nov. 4), Doja Cat flipped the lyrics to “Paint the Town Red” to celebrate the results of the 2026 midterm elections.

The 2026 midterm elections saw a wave of blue hit the state of Texas, with Democrat James Talarico winning the Senate seat over Republican Ken Paxton, the Democrats gaining one seat in the House, and Democrat Gina Hinojosa winning the governor race, ousting incumbent Republican governor Greg Abbott. Doja Cat was clearly happy about the results during her show in Dallas on Wednesday, making a not-so-subtle change to her Scarlet highlight “Paint the Town Red.”

“Bitch, I said what I said / I’d rather be famous instead / I let all that get to my head / I don’t care, I paint the town blue!” she rapped, as the audience cheered the change to the track.

Texas served as a major battleground for the 2026 midterm elections. As reported by the BBC, SpaceX founder and billionaire Twitter-ruiner Elon Musk, who conducts the majority of his business in Texas these days, spent an astonishing $450 million to back Republican candidates in the midterm elections. His largest donation was $45 million to Republican Ken Paxton, who lost the race for the Texas Senate seat to Democrat James Talarico.

Even Texas senator Ted Cruz described the midterm election results as a “blue tsunami.”

“2026 was not simply a blue wave; it was a blue tsunami. It was an asskicking," Cruz wrote in a post shared on X, formerly Twitter. "It was not simply a bad 2006 midterm election. It was a Watergate-level repudiation.”
