Anuel AA is gearing up for a major comeback while embracing a genre that has captured his attention.

During an interview for Billboard Latin Music Week on Tuesday (Oct. 20), the 33-year-old rapper confirmed that his new album RHLM 2 arrives in November and that a separate project made up entirely of corridos is also on the way, according to Billboard.

He explained the pivot in plain terms, saying the genre of narrative-driven songs has taken over his listening habits.

“I love corridos music, I fell in love with it 100%. I hardly ever listen to reggaeton or trap music, I'm all about corridos,” he said. “It's a different way of experiencing street music. Most of them [Mexican artists] don't use auto-tune; they sing a cappella, and they're damn good! I really like the process. I'm even going to release an album consisting entirely of corridos, it's a gift for Mexico.”

Anuel says the record was made in Mexico during a difficult period in his life.

“This one is a very special gift to Mexico. I decided to create this project in Mexico during some of my lowest moments," he said, before previewing "Los Veo," produced by rising Mexican producer Alex Torres.

By contrast, his new album RHLM 2 returns to the sound that launched his career.

“I created this album from my heart and soul, it's the kind of music l've made since the very beginning of my career," he said. "It's about my roots, blending trap with reggaeton; it's a return to my origins and a continuation of RHLM."

He also played snippets from the album, including the heartbreak cut "Ya Perdió la Fe" (“Just Lost Faith”), the trap track "Se tocó el totico con mi glock” (“She touched her pussy with my glock”), a pop-leaning reggaeton song with the potential title "Red Flag," produced by Ovy on the Drums, and "Sexo No Más" featuring De La Rose.

The two projects mark his return following a gap since 2022's LLNM2, an acronym for Las Lleyendas Nunca Mueren 2 (meaning “Legends Never Die 2”).

RHLM 2 follows up on his 2018 debut album Real Hasta La Muerte (“Real Until Death”), which was released on the same day he was released from prison after serving more than two years.

The 45-minute conversation, moderated by Billboard co-chief content officer Leila Cobo at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach, came during a week when corridos and música mexicana are dominating the awards conversation.

Peso Pluma leads all finalists for the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards with 17 nominations, while Fuerza Regida is set to receive the Billboard Vanguard Award.

Anuel AA is a two-time finalist at this year's awards, which air live Thursday (Oct. 22), on Telemundo and Peacock from the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami.

Anuel AA’s RHLM 2 is scheduled for November, with the corridos album also expected before the end of the year.
