- Texas Roadhouse said it confirmed one mix-up, which management "quickly made it right" by providing the filet Card ordered, but said it could not verify that the swap happened three times.
- Card says the roughly $20 sirloin costs $10 less than the $30 filet mignon at the Forsyth location, and he no longer plans to eat at that restaurant.
An Illinois man believes his his local Texas Roadhouse served him a cheap sirloin instead of a filet mignon that he ordered on three separate occasions.
In a TikTok post, the customer, whose name isn Kenneth Card, alleged that a Forsyth, Illinois, location of Texas Roadhouse had repeatedly given him a steak in place of a fillet during his weekly visits to the restaurant. The man claimed he could taste the texture difference between the meats because of his background as a former kitchen cook.
"I know what types of meat I get whenever I receive it," Card insisted, per Fox News.
The first time it happened, Card notified the staff, who traded the initial plate for a filet. The second time, he ate the steak without a complaint, although he had ordered a filet. On the third visit, Card asked for a manager.
"I was like, 'Look, this is the third time that y'all tried to sell me a sirloin or whatever else kind of steak it is besides a filet,'" he recounted.
Staff took the steak to the kitchen and and confirmed it was not what he ordered, according to The Economic Times. Upon receiving the replacement meal, Card had it boxed and taken to-go.
A Texas Roadhouse spokesperson said the company had seen the video and looked into it, but were unable to track that the mistake happened on three different occasions. The chain confirmed one mix-up, saying management "quickly made it right" by providing the filet Card ordered, and said team members double-check completed orders for quality and accuracy.
"I just wanted to get the word out that, 'Hey, you're getting ripped off if you're ordering this and they're selling you this,'" Card said.
The man added that he’s “done” visiting his local Texas Roadhouse and will “try somewhere else.”
