Key Takeaways

  • Subway will bring back the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub on Oct. 27 for the first time since 2014, featuring enchilada-marinated chicken, Fritos, Baja Chipotle sauce, Monterey Cheddar and fresh vegetables.
  • The chain will also revive its Caramel Apple Cookie, made with apple pieces, caramel chips, salted caramel crunch and caramel icing, for a limited time.
  • From Oct. 27 through Nov. 8, Sub Club members can buy one Footlong and get another of equal or lesser value free through Subway’s app or website.

Fans of Subway's Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub, make note that for the first time in 12 years, the chain is bringing the popular sandwich back.

In honor of National Sandwich Day, which falls on Nov. 3, Subway is celebrating a week early on Tuesday, Oct. 27, since the holiday coincides with Election Day this year.

The Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub and Caramel Apple Cookie are actually both heading back to Subway menus nationwide for a limited time. The sub last appeared on menus in 2014, while the cookie treat hasn't been available since 2021.

"We weren't going to let National Sandwich Day become an afterthought," Jeff Klein, chief marketing officer at Subway, said in a statement. "Especially with the Fritos® Chicken Enchilada Sub making a comeback that our fans and franchisees have been asking for. So, we're giving sandwiches their own day in the spotlight, one week early."

The returning sandwich, according to Subway, combines rotisserie-style chicken marinated in enchilada sauce with crunchy Fritos corn chips and smoky Baja Chipotle sauce. Monterey Cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onions round out the lineup.

For dessert, the Caramel Apple Cookie delivers a taste of fall with apple pieces, caramel chips and salted caramel crunch, all finished with a caramel icing drizzle.

"The enchilada sauce brings depth, the chipotle adds a little heat and the Fritos deliver that signature crunch," Chef Paul Fabre, SVP of culinary innovation at Subway, added in a statement. "The apple and salted caramel offer a sweet finish that tastes like fall."

There's also a deal for sandwich lovers. From Oct. 27 through Nov. 8, current and new Sub Club members can get a free Footlong of equal or lesser value with the purchase of another Footlong when ordering through the Subway app or online. The offer will be automatically added to members' app wallets.

Also, if you've already circled Nov. 3 on your calendar for National Sandwich Day, don't worry. Subway assures that both menu items and the buy-one-get-one offer will still be available that day.
