NBA star Trey Jemison III and Alex Jean Glover held a wedding in Franklin, Tennessee, on Friday (Aug. 21)—and shared with their guests they were celebrating a marriage that had already happened.
Instead of holding a traditional ceremony, the Toronto Raptors center and his sports broadcaster wife played a video revealing that they had secretly eloped in Antigua on Aug. 3, 2025, one day after Jemison proposed.
The footage included behind-the-scenes glimpses of their Caribbean ceremony and clips of the couple telling people close to them that they were married.
“We knew that we wanted everyone to be in one place to break the news and then party the night away after,” Jemison told People.
With no formal ceremony scheduled, the couple held an extended cocktail hour that allowed guests to begin celebrating immediately after the video. The festivities included a live saxophonist, a hat bar, branded cornhole, and a mechanical bull, which Glover called “a non-negotiable.”
The Nashville-area venue was selected because it was within driving distance of both families’ hometowns. Glover is from Houston, while Jemison is from Birmingham, Alabama.
The two first connected during the summer of 2024 after Jemison came across one of Glover’s sports-broadcasting videos on social media and sent her a message. They officially began dating that December before becoming engaged on Aug. 2, 2025, and eloping the following day.
Glover handled many of the celebration’s details while Jemison was with the Knicks during their championship-winning season. She worked with wedding planner Susanna of Lumi Accents during the playoffs before the couple finalized the remaining arrangements after New York’s victory parade.
Glover previously posted a viral TikTok during the playoffs showing how little Jemison knew about the plans.
“I knew that you were gonna be happy. You’re gonna have a great time, and I’m gonna enjoy the moments,” he said in the video. “I know it’s all paid for. That’s enough for me.”
Jemison told People that Glover is his best friend and that every moment involving her is “100 times better,” praising the way she pushes and loves him and the peace he feels around her.
“We both pour into each other,” Glover said, “and I truly believe that we are so much stronger and happier together than we are apart. Trey feels like the part of me I never knew was missing.”
