Zaire Wade, the eldest child of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, has been arrested and booked for domestic violence.
Records seen by Complex confirm that Wade, 24, was arrested last Sunday (June 21). According to Burbank Police, he was taken in for felony domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment. Wade posted a bond of $50,000 and was released.
NBC 4 Investigates cites sources claiming that police in Burbank received a 911 call early Sunday morning about a woman screaming. Upon arriving, the police were met by Zaire Wade as well as a woman who "had lacerations on her face and body."
While paramedics showed up at the scene, the woman was not taken to a hospital. A handgun was also reportedly taken from the scene. Wade was arrested at 6 A.M. An emergency protective order was reportedly issued against him on behalf of the woman, per TMZ.
The Burbank Police told Complex they could not confirm any details "because this is a domestic violence investigation."
Wade has not yet been charged criminally. A spokesperson for the Burbank Police told Complex: "Detectives will be presenting the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for filing considerations." A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the case "has not been presented by law enforcement."
Zaire Wade is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade and his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. The two also have a daughter, activist and influencer Zaya Wade, 19. Zaya is currently in her first year of college.
"My dad told me not to mess it up, that he is paying tuition, and it is expensive," she joked at a recent public appearance.
Dwyane Wade also has a son with Aja Metoyer and a daughter with his wife, Gabrielle Union. In addition, he is the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris.
