Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant was caught on camera knocking a teenager's phone out of his hand during a heated confrontation in a Texas parking lot that ended with police holding the former NFL receiver at gunpoint.
The incident occurred Sunday (Oct. 25) outside a restaurant in Southlake, Texas, after Bryant accused two 19-year-olds, Noah Reyes and Terrance Avery, of driving recklessly near his vehicle.
Footage shows Bryant arguing with the teenagers before slapping Reyes' phone out of his hand as he attempted to record the confrontation. Bryant then picked up the device and threw it onto the pavement once more.
"I'm not playing with you," Bryant said during the exchange.
At another point, Bryant threatened the teenagers while repeatedly getting in Reyes' face.
"I'm fitting to fuck these little motherfuckers up," he yelled. "Like, real talk."
Speaking to OutKick afterward, Bryant offered his account of what sparked the confrontation, claiming the teenagers cut him off while driving before the argument continued in the parking lot.
"He get out of the car, he talking crazy," Bryant explained. "I get out of the car, I'm talking my mess. And he go to threatening me."
Bryant alleged that one of the teenagers said he had a gun and threatened to shoot him, although the former receiver acknowledged that he never saw a weapon.
"I told him, I said, 'Hey, man, you pull that gun, I'm telling you right now, you better use it because if you don't, I'm going to do something to you,'" Bryant recalled.
He also admitted to knocking Reyes' phone away but maintained that he was defending himself.
"I knocked the phone out of his hand," Bryant said. "And first thing he said was, 'I'm fitting to call the police.' I said, 'Call them. You're threatening me, so it's all good. I have the right to protect myself.'"
The confrontation escalated further when Southlake police arrived.
Additional footage obtained by OutKick shows officers pointing firearms toward Bryant before ordering him to the ground and placing him in handcuffs.
Bryant can be seen lying face down with his hands restrained behind his back while repeatedly shouting, "He threatened me."
The Southlake Police Department later explained that officers had received multiple reports of a possible weapon, prompting them to approach the scene with their firearms drawn.
"Several callers reported that multiple individuals were involved in the altercation as well as a possible weapon," a police spokesperson told The Post.
Authorities confirmed that several people were temporarily detained during the investigation, but no firearms were recovered.
Bryant criticized how officers handled the situation, particularly because his children were present.
He claimed one officer encouraged him to "be the bigger person" after hearing both sides of the dispute.
"I asked him, 'How can I be the bigger person?'" Bryant said. "I told him I got every right to feel how I'm feeling."
Following the investigation, police issued Bryant a citation for assault by contact, a Class C misdemeanor, before releasing him at the scene.
Reyes told The Post that he suffered a hand injury during the confrontation and plans to sue Bryant, who also took to social media with a post of his own explaining what happened.
