Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, have announced the arrival of their second child.
Father's Day came early for the Japanese professional baseball player, after he and Tanaka announced on Saturday (June 20), a little over a year after they had their first child, that they have welcomed a new child. The couple have not yet revealed the name or sex of their newborn baby.
"We are again overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in our lives together. Thank you for being born safely," a message posted on Ohtani’s Instagram said. "We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey."
Tanaka’s pregnancy was kept out of the public eye, although Ohtani missed his team’s game against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday (June 19). The Dodgers defeated the Orioles 6-5 during the game, which was held at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium.
In an Instagram post last year, Ohtani shared his excitement about becoming a first-time father, despite, according to Us Weekly, being understandably "anxious" along with his wife, who he married in February 2024.
Ohtani has been one of the most recognizable Dodgers teammates since signing onto the team in 2023. With the team, the MLB star has won two World Series Championships, the last being in 2025.
