LaMelo Ball is scaling back his North Carolina real estate portfolio after moving to Minnesota. The former Charlotte Hornets star has listed one of his two condos in Uptown Charlotte’s exclusive Trust building for $2.6 million, three months after the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Timberwolves with Anthony Edwards.
According to Robb Report, the four-bedroom corner unit spans roughly 3,500 square feet and occupies the building’s third floor. Ball bought the condo for $2.2 million in August 2023, then acquired the residence directly above it from former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. He is holding on to Newton’s former penthouse for now, but the lower unit is officially available through Coldwell Banker Realty agent Erika Mendoza.
The place is built for more than simply watching League Pass. Polished marble floors with gold-and-gray veining run through the home, while bronze-framed windows open the main living space to Charlotte’s skyline.
The kitchen features espresso-colored cabinetry, white quartz countertops, a wine refrigerator, and an oversized island with seating for four. The home also features a custom wet bar, four full bathrooms, a powder room, and a private terrace with an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
The primary suite pushes the luxury angle even further with a showroom-style dressing room lined with mirrored wardrobes and illuminated by crystal starburst chandeliers. A multi-head walk-in shower anchors the adjoining bathroom.
The $3,005 monthly HOA fee includes two secured parking spaces and access to the building’s gym, rooftop terrace, and 1,162-bottle wine vault. The seven-residence property also sits above Chima Brazilian Steakhouse and within walking distance of Bank of America Stadium and Truist Field.
Ball’s history inside The Trust began before he owned either condo. He leased Newton’s fourth-floor unit for four years, then paid the former NFL MVP $2.47 million for it in an off-market transaction in May 2024.
The point guard had already purchased the third-floor residence nine months earlier, effectively creating a two-level compound.
The building also provided the setting for one of Ball’s more memorable off-court clips: footage of him riding a go-kart across its rooftop went viral.
The sale follows Ball’s departure from the Hornets, who selected him as the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Minnesota acquired Ball and Josh Green in a four-team transaction that sent Naz Reid and a sizable collection of draft assets to Charlotte.
Timberwolves president Tim Connelly said at Ball’s introductory press conference, “I think he’ll elevate us,” adding that Minnesota’s environment would support the guard’s continued growth.
That trade also sparked unsupported social-media claims that Lonzo Ball would join his younger brother in Minnesota. No deal materialized, though Lonzo endorsed the pairing of LaMelo and Edwards on the Ball in the Family podcast. “I think this is a great fit for him,” he said.
