Key Takeaways

  • Charlotte Flair reassured fans that her father, Ric Flair, is “going to be OK” after a fall outside a Tampa restaurant left him with facial cuts and sent him to the hospital.
  • The 77-year-old wrestling legend reportedly joked that the Ultimate Warrior caused his fall, even as doctors evaluated him for a possible concussion.
  • The hospitalization came hours after Flair revealed a blood clot in his leg had forced him to cancel a Seattle convention appearance and limit his travel.

Charlotte Flair has reassured fans that her father, wrestling legend Ric Flair, is expected to recover after a frightening fall outside a Florida restaurant sent him to the hospital with facial injuries. And judging by the joke he reportedly made to his doctors, the Nature Boy hasn't lost his sense of humor.

The WWE star addressed her father's condition Friday night on X, sharing an exchange that suggested the 16-time world champion was still cracking jokes despite the circumstances.

"Not my dad telling the doctor he fell bc of warrior dropping him on his head…" Charlotte wrote, referencing her father's history with the late Ultimate Warrior.

She followed up with the update fans had been waiting for: "(ps: he's going to be ok)."

According to Sports Illustrated, Ric Flair was at Wagamama in Tampa earlier that day when he fell after leaving the restaurant's bar area and heading outside. The 77-year-old reportedly suffered cuts to his head and near his eye, leaving him bloodied. A possible concussion was also reported, although that diagnosis has not been confirmed.

Emergency personnel transported Flair to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The accident came just hours after Flair revealed another health concern that had already forced him to change his schedule.

Flair announced that he would miss a planned appearance at Washington State Horror Con in Seattle after doctors restricted his travel because of a blood clot in his leg.

"Unfortunately, I'm dealing with a blood clot in my leg, and my doctors have limited my travel to three to four hours," Flair explained in a statement apologizing to organizers and fans.

"As disappointed as I am, I have to put my health and recovery first," he added.

Flair also acknowledged the potential severity of his condition, warning that blood clots can become life-threatening and emphasizing the importance of following medical advice.

His latest hospitalization comes months after Charlotte publicly shut down talk of her father stepping back into the wrestling ring.

In February, Flair revealed during a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest that someone had approached him about facing fellow wrestling veteran Ricky Morton.

"Somebody wants me to wrestle Ricky Morton. I'm thinking about it," he said, explaining that the possibility was more about personal motivation than money.

Charlotte wasn't entertaining the idea. When the potential comeback circulated online, she responded with two words: "Absolutely not."

Her father subsequently clarified that he had no intention of wrestling again.

Flair last competed in July 2022, teaming with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal at an event billed as his final match. He later disclosed that he passed out twice from dehydration during the bout and believed he suffered a heart attack.

The Hall of Famer also survived a major medical emergency involving organ failure in 2017.
