The standoff between Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers has taken another dramatic turn.
In a new YouTube video posted Saturday, June 27, Aiyuk claimed his former agent played a major role in the breakdown of his relationship with the franchise and alleged that general manager John Lynch recently showed up at his home to discuss the situation.
Per ESPN, the 3½-minute video is Aiyuk's latest public message as he continues pushing for a fresh start away from San Francisco. During the clip, the receiver made it clear he sees no path back to the organization.
"We is not cool," Aiyuk said. "We won't be cool, and I will never be stepping in that building"—except, he added, for October 19, when the 49ers are scheduled to host the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
Aiyuk has spent much of the past week publicly campaigning for a move to Washington, where he could reunite with quarterback Jayden Daniels, his former teammate at Arizona State. Earlier this week, he said on Instagram that he would sign with the Commanders "tomorrow" if San Francisco released him.
In the YouTube video, he again flashed a football bearing the Commanders' logo, underscoring where he'd like his career to continue. Because Aiyuk remains under contract with the 49ers, Washington cannot publicly pursue him without violating NFL tampering rules.
The receiver also shifted blame for the ongoing dispute onto his former representative, Ryan Williams. According to Aiyuk, Williams' friendship and business relationship with Lynch complicated matters behind the scenes.
A day before posting the YouTube video, Aiyuk said on Instagram that he had fired Williams in November, adding, "there's nobody that will be speaking for me." Williams, however, is still listed as Aiyuk's representative in the NFL Players Association's agent directory.
Aiyuk also alleged that Lynch recently visited his home to apologize for actions taken by head coach Kyle Shanahan. He offered no evidence to support the claim but said the visit made him feel the situation was unsafe for both him and his wife.
The latest accusations cap nearly a year of escalating tension between the two sides. After signing a four-year, $120 million extension in 2024, Aiyuk suffered a devastating knee injury that included tears to his ACL, MCL, and meniscus.
The relationship deteriorated further after the 49ers voided future contract guarantees, citing missed rehabilitation sessions. By December, the club had placed him on the reserve/left squad list, and Lynch later acknowledged that it was "safe to say" Aiyuk had played his final snap for the franchise.
The off-field headlines didn't stop there. Earlier this year, Aiyuk drew criticism after posting a video of himself driving at triple-digit speeds near Levi's Stadium, which later resulted in a misdemeanor arrest warrant. He has since apologized publicly for the speeding incident.
