NBA Opening Night is here, with the first games of the 2026-27 season scheduled to kick off on Tuesday (Oct. 20). To mark the occasion, Fanatics Sports teamed up with Savior Worldwide founder Jae Tips to celebrate everything basketball.
“New York, look at you now,” Jae Tips opens the video, accompanied by footage of the New York Knicks celebrating their historic win earlier this year. “Fifty-three years and worth every one of them.
“Now hold up, let's run that back. Every city thought it was their year, every fan had a reason to believe, and every night reminded us of why this game is so special. The wins, the broken records, the moments we'll talk about forever. … But that was last yea. The league looks a little different now… Clean slate, the NBA's back. Bet that.”
The New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs are among the eight teams set to kick off the season on Tuesday, with the Knicks facing the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Spurs playing the Oklahoma City Thunder. Also playing on Tuesday are the Detroit Pistons versus the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Knicks will undoubtedly be eager to defend their championship title. The team broke a 53-year dry spell with an incredible showing in the playoffs and the finals against the Spurs.
LeBron James is also set to make his debut for the Philly 76ers this season, and he’s likely keen to close out his NBA career with another championship ring.
