Key Takeaways

  • Donald Trump called the idea of Nicki Minaj becoming White House press secretary "a good idea," telling Benny Johnson: "I think I’ll have to think about that."
  • White House Communications Director Steven Cheung previously floated Minaj for the role, which the article says Katie Zacharia left after a five-day tenure.
  • Minaj recently joined Trump at a Michigan midterm rally and reaffirmed her support online, writing: "Not going anywhere" and "Right where I need to be."

Donald Trump has shared his thoughts on whether Nicki Minaj would make a good White House Press Secretary.

On Friday (October 30), during an interview with Benny Johnson for The Benny Show, the U.S. president was asked whether Minaj would be the latest person to step into the role following the exit of Katie Zacharia.

"That's a good idea. I think I'll have to think about that," he pondered, before also considering Johnson. "I'm going to think about that. How about you? You'd be pretty good, too," he said.

The White House Press Secretary position has been vacant ever since Zacharia's five-day venture came to a close on October 16. She was ultimately fired for her performance, and she now has the shortest tenure in White House Press Secretary history.

Nicki Minaj has grown close to the president over the past few months, and recently joined him in Michigan for a midterm rally at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. During that rally, Trump complimented the rapper for having "one hell of a beautiful ass" that’s "hard to miss."

This isn’t the first time that Minaj has been floated as a possible White House Press Secretary candidate. On October 25, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung posted a clip on X of the rapper discussing President Trump's success, captioning it: "Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ."

Minaj has made it clear that she's sticking with President Trump through thick and thin. The rapper reposted a video of the president calling her his "favorite," adding her own two cents. "Not going anywhere," she wrote. "Right where I need to be."
