IShowSpeed isn't backing down from a prediction he made four years ago.
During a livestream on Sunday, the YouTube star revisited his 2022 World Cup anthem, replaying a verse in which he predicted Portugal and Argentina would meet in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, with Cristiano Ronaldo delivering the decisive goal against Lionel Messi.
In the song, Speed said, "Portugal versus Argentina? Ronaldo versus Messi. In the last stage, Ronaldo scores a free kick, and that's game, three to two. GG's to all the rest of the countries."
After playing the clip, Speed reminded viewers that he had been calling the matchup long before the tournament began.
"That's my prediction. That's my World Cup final. 2026, and I said it back in 2022, and ain't nobody believe me, bro. Ain't nobody believe me," he said. "That is my World Cup prediction final. So I'm not even gonna make a long video on it. Argentina versus Portugal. That's the World Cup final for 2026. Three, two, three, two, three, two."
The prediction has suddenly become far more realistic.
With the group stage now complete, Argentina and Portugal are on opposite sides of the knockout bracket, meaning they cannot meet until the World Cup final if both advance. That has fueled speculation that fans could finally get one last showdown between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on soccer's biggest stage.
Argentina enters the knockout rounds led by a red-hot Messi, who has already scored five goals and became the all-time leading scorer in men's World Cup history during the group stage. Portugal, meanwhile, rebounded from a slow start behind Ronaldo, who responded with a brace against Uzbekistan after failing to score in the team's opener.
Whether Speed's prediction comes true remains to be seen, as both nations must survive four knockout matches to reach the championship game.
