A college student in Fort Collins, Colorado, had a parking ticket to pay—not particularly unusual. Ted Nischan figured that he would pay with his credit card but, alas, the machine at the Municipal Court wasn't working. So, he resigned himself to use his 50-pound bucket of loose change that he had accumulated over the years. The ticket was $160 dollars and a bank confirmed his change added up to that amount.
However, in a sick twist, he was told the city wouldn't accept the coin. Tragic. We thought this was America! Aren't we living in America!?
