Alannah Keyser's time on Love Island USA is already over—but the debate surrounding her exit is only getting louder.
Days after the Casa Amor bombshell was removed from the Peacock reality series over resurfaced content allegedly showing her using the N-word, Keyser's father is speaking out publicly, insisting the backlash has unfairly defined his daughter.
In an interview with TMZ, Stephane Keyser rejected claims that Alannah is racist, calling her an "educated sweetheart" and saying, "There's no world in which Alannah is a racist."
His comments come after Keyser became the latest contestant to leave Love Island USA following the resurfacing of controversial social media content. Shortly after she entered the villa, a blurry video reportedly taken from an old Snapchat post circulated online, appearing to show the 21-year-old singing along to “The Box” by Roddy Ricch, which contains the racial slur.
Another screenshot, purportedly showing her using the word in an old social media comment, also spread online. The content quickly fueled criticism from viewers, and Keyser was subsequently removed from the show.
While acknowledging the growing controversy, Stephane Keyser argued that the public perception of his daughter doesn't match reality. He told TMZ that their family has long had friends from different backgrounds, adding that the accusations being leveled against Alannah are unfounded.
Keyser's exit is the latest chapter in what has become a recurring problem for Love Island USA. Before Season 8 even premiered, contestant Vasana Montgomery was dropped from the cast after videos surfaced showing her using the N-word.
The franchise has faced similar controversies before. During Season 7, Yulissa Escobar exited the villa after podcast clips resurfaced in which she repeatedly used the slur. She later apologized, saying she had used the word "ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it."
