David Beckham's son, Cruz Beckham, is officially kicking off his music career.
The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, who is the son of the soccer icon and former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham, has announced his debut EP, Wear & Tear, which is set to arrive on August 21.
Alongside the announcement, Cruz released the project's title track and accompanying visualizer video. The video was directed by Gabriela Grafolin, a Brazilian director and creative director based in Los Angeles who also directed Beckham’s earlier clips for his songs "Optics," "Lick the Toad," and "For Your Love."
The six-song EP is available now for pre-order and pre-save. Speaking about the project, Cruz said Wear & Tear reflects the experiences that shape people's lives.
"Wear & Tear is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far — the good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between," he said in a statement. "No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human. We've been high and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset — we've lived and learned. We've all got our wear and tear."
The title track leans into a Beatles-esque sound, with the main guitar riff owing a debt to the Fab Four’s Rubber Soul standout "If I Needed Someone."
The project's tracklist is as follows: "Dumb Down," the title track "Wear & Tear," "Better Times," "Loneliest Boy," "WANNABE," and "Seeing Red." The EP announcement comes just ahead of Cruz's first U.S. headlining tour, which begins next month.
The run opens July 28 at The Atlantis in Washington, D.C., before making stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles. Cruz will also perform at several major music festivals, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading, Leeds, Rock N Roll Circus, and Shaky Knees.
