Tay-K dialed up PlaqueBoyMax, not because he’s seen his Twitch livestreams, but to request beats.
On Thursday (Oct. 22), “The Race” rapper phoned PlaqueBoyMax live during the streamer's Twitch broadcast in the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 22, to ask for beats from the Grammy-nominated producer.
Over the phone, the incarcerated artist joked that he was calling in “live from the gates of hell,” meaning a Texas prison, where the 26-year-old was sentenced to 80 years for the 2017 fatal shooting of Mark Anthony Saldiva. The rapper is also serving a concurrent 55-year sentence for the 2016 Mansfield home invasion robbery where victim Ethan Walker was slain.
Tay-K, real name Taymor Travon McIntyre, offered to send PlaqueBoyMax was he’s currently working on for them to be “locked in” on new music.
“I ain’t gonna lie, gang, I [have never] watched your stream or nothing,” the rapper told Max. “I ain’t never heard your voice, I just heard your beats.”
Tay-K went on to request “a good challenge” in terms of production, something that fans “wouldn’t expect” to hear him on, along with sounds more fitting for him.
While lawyers for Tay-K seek to appeal his sentence for murder, over the last year, the rapper has dropped multiple singles and adopted an animated version of himself on social media. His first mixtape, #SantanaWorld was released in 2017 and featured “The Race,” which peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s remix featured 21 Savage and Young Nudy.
