Sonic is giving burger fans something new to sink their teeth into this holiday season with the Smoked Gouda and Bacon Sonic Smasher. Available as a double or triple, the new Sonic Smasher features hand-smashed patties made with Angus beef, melty smoked gouda, crispy bacon and black pepper aioli, according to a press release.
The smoked gouda is the standout ingredient here, adding a deeper, richer flavor than your typical cheeseburger.
This isn't Sonic's first spin on its Smasher burger this year. In January, the chain introduced four All-American Smasher varieties, including bacon-topped versions. Then came the Tropical Heat Sonic Smasher in May, featuring pepper jack cheese and a sweet-and-spicy jalapeño-pineapple glaze. The new smoked gouda version is the latest seasonal twist on the burger.
Sonic's holiday menu also includes the new Santa Slush Float and a refreshed $7 Big Deal Meal.
The Big Deal Meal offers a more budget-friendly option, featuring a Sonic Cheeseburger, a choice of medium tots or fries, small premium chicken bites and a medium soft drink or iced tea for $7.
Two festive drinks inspired by Coca-Cola's holiday releases round out the lineup: Merry Berry Fizz, made with Sprite or Sprite Zero, and Holiday Creamy Vanilla, made with Coca-Cola or Coca-Cola Zero.
The Smoked Gouda and Bacon SONIC Smasher, Santa Slush Float and $7 Big Deal Meal are available now through the Sonic app, with nationwide availability beginning Monday, Nov. 2.
"Whether it's enjoyed after the town parade, on the way to see the holiday lights or during a long-awaited catch-up with hometown friends, the Santa Slush Float is meant to bring a little more magic to the season," said Jenna Rankin, VP of product category management & culinary at Sonic.
