Travis Kelce, at the age of 37, is still a highly productive NFL tight end. He is averaging 49.5 receiving yards per game this season, which ranks sixth among TEs.
Kelce is currently banged up, however, and fantasy football owners are monitoring the situation.
Below, we will offer up a Kelce injury update and look at if he will play this Sunday against the Broncos.
Travis Kelce injury update: Will TE play this week against Broncos?
Kelce initially injured his ankle in the first quarter against the Chargers on October 18. LA linebacker Daiyan Henley hit Kelce with a hip-drop style tackle, and Henley’s shoulder bashed Kelce’s ankle.
It is believed that Kelce is dealing with a mild ankle sprain. He played with the injured ankle in this past Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, and turned in a mostly underwhelming performance with 4 catches for 44 yards. That is the second-lowest receiving yardage total in a game for Kelce this season.
Kelce was a full participant in Chiefs practice on Wednesday of this week, but was listed as limited on Thursday.
Thursday could very well have been just a maintenance day for Kelce, unless he suffered some type of setback on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see what Kelce is listed as for Friday’s practice.
All told, it is likely that Kelce plays this Sunday against Denver. He was in a similar situation at this time last week and wound up playing against the Seahawks.
Here is a look at the Chiefs’ upcoming schedule.
- Week 8 Sunday, November 1: Chiefs at Broncos
- Week 9 Sunday, November 8: Jets at Chiefs
- Week 10 Sunday, November 15: Chiefs at Falcons
- Week 11 Sunday, November 22: Cardinals at Chiefs
- Week 12 Thursday, November 26: Chiefs at Bills
