A healthy Mike Trout is still a force to be reckoned with in MLB. Trout had staved off injury issues this season until he strained his right hamstring in the eighth inning of a June 17 Angels loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The injury occurred while Trout was running to first base.

Mike Trout injury update: When will Angels star return?
Trout’s lengthy injury history is well-documented so whenever he lands on the IL, it’s a cause for concern. That said, this appears to be a minor injury.
“From last night to today, it’s a night and day difference, so that’s positive for me,” Trout told Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com shortly after the injury occurred. “I was a little worried last night, but had a plane ride and just sitting down after playing, so that kind of came into effect. But feels way better today, so I’m not overly concerned about it, but I’m going to do everything I can in that training room and the weight room to get back.”
This appears to be a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Most athletes recover from a Grade 1 hamstring strain in 1-3 weeks. Given Trout’s age (34) and injury history, it’s likely that the Angels bring him back on the latter end of that timeline.

Trout, who is enjoying something of a resurgence this season, has garnered the second-most MLB All-Star Game votes among American League outfielders, behind only Aaron Judge. This year’s All-Star Game is taking place in Philadelphia, and the New Jersey native grew up a die-hard Phillies fan. This year’s All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 14, and Trout is hopeful to be back in time to play in the game, should he be voted in.

Trout is tied with Zach Neto for most home runs on the Angels this season, as both players have 17. Trout’s 36 RBI are the fourth most on the squad, and he leads the team in OBP at .394.
Of note, Trout has seven stolen bases this season. Once a prolific base-runner, Trout hasn’t stolen 10 or more bases since the 2019 season.
