No, Sisqó didn’t attend this season’s New York Fashion Week. But a lot of people thought he did, according to Page Six.

During this week’s events, the 38-year-old R&B singer was “spotted” at Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 5 presentation, as well as the front row of Philipp Plein and Vivienne Tam shows. He was photographed rocking a black and gold Versace suit, a pair of sunglasses, and the signature blond hairstyle. The physical charateristics were enough to convince some people he was, in fact, the “Thong Song” singer; however, it turns out the real Sisqó was nowhere near NYC this week.

A man was apparently posing as the Dru Hill singer in order to get inside the exclusive events—evening bragging to other attendees about his recent performance in the Meat Packing District. He also attempted to talk his way onto a private jet headed to the Caribbean; however, when he provided his passport details, it was discovered the man was actually a 30-year-old named Gavin Barnes.

“I never said I was Sisqó,” Gavin told Page Six. “People thought I was him, and that wasn’t cool.”

The man insists he never posed as the singer and also denied his last name was Barnes.

Page Six reached out to Sisqó’s manager, Jeff Allen, who said they had no idea who the man was. “It’s flattering, I guess,” he said. “Thanks for bringing it to our attention.”
