During his time as YSL’s creative director, Hedi Slimane left an indelible mark on the storied French fashion house. But just in case you have the nerve to question his impact, the 48-year-old designer has returned to remind you.

On Thursday, Slimane resurrected his Twitter account with a lengthy series of posts—22 to be exact—that suggest he is responsible for taking the YSL logo to the next level. He says he was motivated to defend his legacy after recent articles made “inaccurate statements” regarding his use of the now-iconic symbol. Though he doesn’t name any specific stories or fashion writers, many assume it was in response to Cathy Horyn’s piece titled "The Y Is Back in YSL, But Not Much Else Is Yet”—a review of Anthony Vaccarello’s debut collection for label. As many of you know, Slimane took out “Yves” in “Yves Saint Laurent” in an effort to modernize the brand; however, he did not do away with the YSL logo completely.

He points out that during his time as creative director he made it a point to preserve the symbol, using it on everything from architecture and installations to confetti and fashion designs. Judging by his consistent use of all caps as well as the phrase “FOR THE RECORD,” it’s clear Slimane feels some type of way about his former employer. Earlier this year, he filed a lawsuit against Saint Laurent and its parent company Kering for failing to apply a non-compete clause. He was eventually awarded $13 million.

IN CONCLUSION, IT IS ACCURATE TO SAY THAT THE YSL ICONIC INITIALS WERE IN FACT CELEBRATED AND CHAMPIONED BY HEDI
