Jaden Smith is Nylon's August cover star and the musician, model, designer, and philosopher just so happens to be the first man to ever cover the magazine alone. That's not as impressive an honor as it sounds since Nylon Guys was putting males on the cover frequently up until it went all-digital early last year

Nylon got full-on philosophical Smith for its cover story. He talks in-depth about his decision to wear skirts in everyday life and model them for Louis Vuitton. "So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him," Smith told Nylon. "It just doesn’t matter. I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”

Smith describes his time on set shooting the Louis Vuitton campaign as "lit." "It was lit because we all knew that we were going to impact the culture and change the game and make a difference," he said.

Smith believes that his confidence is necessary to push the culture forward. "The world is going to keep bashing me for whatever I do, and I’m going to keep not caring," he said. "I’m going to keep doing the same things—I’m going to keep doing more things. I’m going to take most of the blows for my fellow MSFTS (misfits, and also the name of his clothing line)."
