New York City has the largest Asian population in the entire world outside of Asia itself and to celebrate the spirit of Asian artistic expression and innovation, Tiger Beer recently launched its Tiger Trading Co. pop-up shop in NYC, which ran from June 7–June 8. Housed in a repurposed dollar store on Canal Street, the pop-up featured 500 carefully curated items representing the best of contemporary fashion, art, design, and technology that all shared a common tag: “Made in Asia.”

The pop-up kicked off with an opening night party on June 6, which featured some very special guests, including Questlove, Danny Bowien, Jeff Ng (Staple Pigeon), Hanksy, Brian Procell, and Natalie Suarez (Natalie Off-Duty). Music was provided by talented DJs Andrew Kuo, Angela Dimayuga, and Humberto Leon. Leon is also the co-founder of global retail and fashion brand Opening Ceremony, which provided items for the pop-up and whose latest collection highlighted China-based designers. Also on hand were celebrity chefs Michael Ker, whose family has been famous for generations for their Singapore specialty Popiah, and Thailand native James Syhabout, who is the chef and proprietor of Commis, the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Oakland.

Admission to the pop-up was granted to visitors that obtained a special Tiger Beer coaster from nearby bars and restaurants. Not only that but each coaster granted its visitor one specialty item from the Tiger Trading Co. for free. Yes, that’s right: completely free of charge.

You can get a look at how it all went down by checking out the video above. After such a huge success, we can only hope Tiger decides to bring the Tiger Trading Co. back again sometime.
