Detroit has a proud legacy. Despite the tough times it’s currently going through, the Motor City can stake a claim to legends such as Eminem, J Dilla and the 88-90 and 03-04 NBA Championship winning Detroit Pistons. Furthermore, Detroit has cultivated iconic movements such as Motown and the house/techno scene. Speaking of which, the State is often hailed as the birth place of techno and with that acknowledgement, Carhartt WIP have linked up with Detroit techno and house legend Kenny Dixon Jr, better known as Moodymann, for this Mahogani Music collaboration.

The iconic DJ and producer is world renowned for his contributions to the house and electronic music scene. He’s remixed tracks for artists like Lana Del Rey and Junior Boys and set up groundbreaking record labels like KDJ, Mahogani, NFD and Private Collection. Together with Carhartt WIP (also founded in Detroit), he now launches a compact clothing collection accompanied by a very special, limited UDG DJ bag.

The apparel consists of two long sleeve shirts and two T-shirts, each piece playing around with the iconic graphics from Moodymann's larger than life record labels: Mahogani Music and KDJ Records. Additionally, there will also be a limited Carhartt WIP x Mahogani Music UDG Sling Bag Trolley Deluxe that has been specially designed to protect your vinyl and DJ gear during travelling. Capable of holding up to 60 records, this is perfect for any DJs on-the-go who can't resist the feel of a 12" record.

Completing the collection will be a limited 7" vinyl featuring a never released cut of Moodymann's J.A.N. from 2001; this will appear on the A-side. The B-side features a brand new tack from the Detroit maestro, 5800 Cass Ave., a joint that refers to a special address in his hometown. Ironically, the new track clocks in with a runtime of 3.13 minutes, which (if you've never watched 8 Mile) is the famous Detroit area code.

The Carhartt WIP x Mahogani Music collection will be available from various WIP stores and the webstore, as well as selected retailers on Feb. 26. You can check out an extensive look at the collection in the gallery below.
