It wasn’t too long ago when Philadelphia-based menswear boutique Lapstone & Hammer posed a seemingly simple question: Could it create a batch of custom hats that had the same appeal and look of worn-in jeans? Well, it appears the answer is “yes.”

Made in collaboration with storied sportswear brand Mitchell & Ness, the Lapstone & Hammer “Destructed Denim” range features eight snapbacks that pay tribute to four NBA teams: the Chicago Bulls, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Each of the hats is made of sturdy, raw denim that is embroidered with either the name of the team or the teams’ logo. That stitch design was later covered with another patch of raw denim, which was eventually rubbed and distressed by a group of artists in order to reveal the shape of the embroidery underneath. The result was a series of unique snapbacks that look a lot like your go-to jeans.

You can get a glimpse at the “Destructed Denim” designs in the images below. The snapbacks are limited to 100 pieces each, and will drop Feb. 5 at Lapstone & Hammer’s flagship, 1106 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA, as well as its online store. Each purchase will also come with a canvas bag with a co-branded hangtag, a Mitchell & Ness dog tag, and a piece of sandpaper so customers can add to the awesome distressed look.
