Lose Your Mind In The World of Pacific Palisades

The first time I met Josh Church was in a Peckham pub when he tried to nick my phone, and I thought he was a dick.

My girlfriend was the person who introduced me to his latest project Pacific Palisades, and I was immediately obsessed. They were friends, and when I met Josh in person it all made total sense. His fun and rude sense of humour is reflected in his home-movie style videos of drugs, skateboarding and naked girls. In the first video I watched, I saw bums and tits in a mansion in LA, so naturally, I was very keen to see more and find out everything about him.

It turns out that 24 year-old Josh has been going to L.A. for three months every year for the last 3 years. He had to get people to buy beer for him on his first trip, which doesn't really matter because anyone would rather be sober under a palm tree in L.A. than pissed in a cold flat in Hackney. Plus him and his mates from Yardsale go when the London weather is at its worst... Jammy. When asked about how he plans his films, he says it's "very sporadic. There’s no plan. I generally get taken to places by my mates in LA and shoot what I think is interesting at the time; mostly funny or weird stuff..." Which you'll understand if you ever go out with him and catch him filming you dad-dancing to Young Thug (true story).

Most of Church's talent comes down to his editing, which he says is inspired by X-Files. The night vision shots are my favourite, and the pool scenes, which are great. Then his choice of music makes you feel like you're in a real-life-but-slightly-fucked-up version of GTA Vice City, which is quite mad.

Anyway, check it out for yourself above — oh and you might as well check his pictures below, while you're at it.
