PROMO: FIAT’s #MyDesignCity Series Wrapped Up in Style With an Austin Celebration

FIAT's #MyDesignCity wraps in Austin.

This summer, FIAT and Complex launched pop-up art galleries in three different cities with the goal of opening eyes to the amazing art happening in all of our cities, towns, and neighborhoods. If the #MyDesignCity final event, in Austin, TX, is any indication, then we can safely say that the mission was accomplished. Over 600 guests attended the all-day gallery opening, enjoying the music, the food, the drinks, and, of course, the art. Artist Sophie Roach, an Austin native, had the audience get involved in her installation by providing them with a color-by-numbers piece that had guests of all ages taking part. In another original twist, Sophie’s work was being screen-printed on site, which was another hugely popular feature.

As night began to fall, guests started lining up for Ms. P’s food truck, which served fried chicken tenderloins, along with great sides like truffle mac and cheese, and Mexican street corn. The cocktail for the evening was the “Lower East Side” (named for a hood in Complex’s hometown), which is made from 1800 Silver tequila, lemon juice, and honey syrup. DJ Chicken George and DJ I Wanna Be Her provided the sounds that had quests dancing into the night. Naturally, guests were also able to check out the all-new FIAT 500X, which was on display throughout the event.

In addition to Sophie Roach, the featured Austin artists included visual artists Kevin Munoz and Adrian Landon Brooks, and woodworker Aaron Michalovic.
