In the first installment of the Selfridges X Complex project, we're looking at legendary French fashion house Kenzo, worn by the likes of P. Diddy, Swizz Beatz and Rihanna. Now under the exciting guidance of Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Fall/Winter 2015's offering has a utilitarian feel, with fresh designs including dyed, embellished knits, the signature Tiger print and a hella strong mix of outerwear. Highlights include the fur-collared jacket, the patched wool jumper, and the stretch wool jumper seen in the video.
Lost Codes boss Visionist and London experimentalist Dark0 are the brains behind the expansive, shimmering electronic soundtrack to the Selfridges X Complex Kenzo video. Joining them in the video are Faze Miyake, the man behind so many of our favourite grimy riddims, gruffer-than-gruff MC K9, and Mssingno, the R&G producer behind the XE2 EP. Each of the artists involved have been mainstays in electronic music for the past few years, pushing their sound from the grime-leaning days of old into something newer, more abstract, and impossible to categorise.
We wanted the video to be a reflection of London, and of what’s going on in London right now. We wanted to place these clothes in a thoroughly London context, and really, what’s more London that mixing clothes from a luxury French fashion house with Air Max 95s? Yeah, not much.
Take a look at the video above, head here to shop the Kenzo Fall/Winter 2015 collection at Selfridges, and if you're in London on August 22 make sure to head down to check out the Selfridges X Complex in-store Kenzo event in Menswear Contemporary on 1, with a DJ set from Manny Norte from 3–7pm plus guests.
