A group of thieves held up a packing facility in Paris and stole 500 Hermès bags worth $1.7 million, reports WWD.
The robbers coerced the manager, who was working by himself at the supplier CAMS, which had been contracted by Hermès, to load a truck full of the bags. Police are still on the lookout for suspects, but noted, "The mode of operation suggests they were a well-prepared team."
The value of the bags ranged anywhere from $535 to $5,354. The haul probably included the Birkin Bag, which Hermès produces, and is one of the most coveted purses in the world.
