The man bun, aka the top knot, is a trend that has spread like wildfire over the past couple of years. And like most fads, it is also fairly polarizing.

While previous studies have concluded women actually dig the hairstyle, a recent survey sponsored by West Coast Shaving reveals the opposite.

According to the report, about 35 percent of American women dislike the style, and around 27 percent said they flat out hated it. Furthermore, 58 percent said they would never date a dude with a man bun, and 74 percent insisted their significant other would look less attractive with one.

Now, it’s important to note that all these style surveys should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt—especially when they’re coming from a grooming company that has an obvious interest in the matter. But while some dudes chose their style strictly for self expression, there’s no denying there are some guys who engage in trends for one single reason: to get girls. So, for the former: keep doing you; and if you happen to have a man bun, then rock it with pride. For the latter, you might want to take a look at the survey results below, which tackle everything from facial hair to top-searched grooming trends around the country. If you believe everything you read on the Internet, you might discover you’ve been doing it all wrong.
