Former interns at Tommy Hilfiger and Fendi are suing the companies for failing to fairly compensate them while they worked there, reports The Fashion Law and Law360. Two class action lawsuits were filed in New York that accuse the companies for mislabeling entry-level employees as interns so that they could continue to work unpaid.
The former interns are looking to claim unpaid wages plus interest, as well as attorney fees for themselves and any other unpaid interns from Tommy Hilfiger and Fendi whho decide to step forward.
Condé Nast settled a similar lawsuit with thousands of former unpaid interns in November of last year. The publishing group ended up paying out a total of $5.8 million. Cases like these are becoming even more commonplace, as 3,000 former Warner Music Group interns filed a lawsuit against the company for violating similar Fair Labor practices.
